Delay #1

We received a brown envelope from the USCIS (Immigration) in the mail today- I excitedly opened it to see when our fingerprint appointment was and out fell our money order?!?! Then further looking I saw the rest of the paperwork we sent in. They returned it all. On top was a cover letter that was suppose to have boxes checked to tell us what was wrong, but all the boxes were blank. What in the world to do. I tried calling a couple USCIS contacts I had found on some messageboards but noone would return my call (surprise right? lol). I then called the USCIS customer service line and the person I got was not sure why it had been rejected (surprise 2 right?) but speculated it was because of the way the money order was made out. I had made it out like their website said, but apparently their website is wrong. Well, its back out FedEx (the postal service has lost my business for this process after the way they handled getting the I600A in the first place). Back to square 1 with the USCIS after 3 weeks of waiting. Oh well, it still could be worse, 3 weeks is not horrible in the grand scheme of things but it’s still frustrating. The rest of this week will be better.

Thanks for this blog. So many blogs out there on this process are started AFTER the dossier is mailed so it’s really useful to read about someone’s experiences leading up to that day.
