News from Memphis

Well, at least we know that Memphis has received all our paperwork- that is the good news. Senator Alexanders office called and they had heard back from Memphis and they said our fingerprints were received on November 23. So our 6-8 week wait begins from there, this means that we are just over 6 1/2 weeks into our wait.
They indicated that they may need some more paperwork/information from us. This may not be the case but I am fully expecting to have more work to do and once this paperwork is received back in Memphis our 6-8 week wait starts over. They sure do like to make things tough- its not like everything in question wasn’t thoroughly documented and our social worker made sure to send official documents to head this off.
Oh well, guess this is a lesson in patience, I really need to find a website that sells it cheap, I need a whole bunch

Soooo, if you hadn’t contacted Alexanders office, how long do you think Memphis would have taken to let you know “they MAY need some more paperwork”…..
Michael, you have officially been branded into the ‘I love my Memphis CIS office’.
Congrats on paying your dues!

I don’t really know how long they would have taken- hopefully not too much longer, though now they changed their “6 weeks” they told me to “6 to 8 weeks”. I don’t regret letting our Senator know, however, I realize from many different people I have talked to about Memphis, you really have to be careful about who and when you contact and when to push what button with Officer Williams at the helm. It seems like walking on egg shells. I don’t think I am done with our dealings with her just yet.
Thanks,
Michael

That woman needs a few eggs cracked. She has hung up on families when they attempt to ask her questions, left veiled threats on answering machines, and generally caused a great deal of unnecessary anxiety for adopting families.
All these families are trying to do is give an abandoned orphan a good home.
It seems if one thing is ‘not right’.. your paperwork goes to the bottom of the stack rather than be dealt with at that time.
It reminds me of when I was a kid and my Mother made me eat spinach. I ate it, but didn’t swallow and then mumbled ‘may I be excused’ and headed for the back door and spit it out in the bushes.
