Dealing with the wait
- Posted by Michael on April 3rd, 2006 filed in Waiting for Referal
We are just over 1 month now since our LID and the wait is certaintly not an easy wait. It is easy to get overwhelmed with the rumors that run rampant on the messageboards and so I have decided not to read them. It is unfortunate because it would be nice to network with others in the process and others that we may be traveling with, but it is too stressful when people start talking about how they “know it’s fact” that there is going to be an 18 month wait, etc. I am not going to take anything as fact until our agency tells us but it is still hard to get through those rumors. For those of you that I am on groups with I am sorry that I haven’t been around much, I still will read occasionaly but not as often. The only group that I am currently active on is the Dads4China group.
We have decided on a way to deal with the wait. The first chance we can at the beginning of each month we are going to do our baby shopping. Whether it be for new clothes, a stroller, a diaper bag, travel things, etc. This way we can focus on shorter goals of making it to the next month instead of the daunting 10-11 month wait ahead. This month we bought some cute outfits (some overalls and cute pants), a “Snuggli” to carry Mikayla around in while in China, a little frog named “Leap” that sings the ABC song, and finally the blanket that we plan to send to Mikayla in China when we get her referral.
Until next time…

hi GUYS! Yes, I’m taking it easy, reading the boards as well. I like blogging and reading people’s blogs - but that can get a bit tedious with the rumours as well! My blog is rumour free - and I just prattle on about life! Good luck with the shopping!
