First McDonalds

Our pictures from the first McDonalds visit have been emailed to me (thank you so much Lynn) and I just wanted to post Mikayla’s first McDonalds, the first of many many many many more. We got her a Happy meal that came with a little character that talks, in Chinese. We have NO idea what it is saying but it is a keepsake for sure.
She is napping now, it is time to start packing soon, we leave here tomorrow afternoon and have no idea how I am going to fit everything in our luggage. It will be a challenge for sure. I haven’t mentioned how small she is either. She is 23 months but she is fitting into her 12 month clothes, we figured maybe 18 month clothes when we were packing but glad we were prepared. She is a tiny little bean for sure and only weighs in at about 22 pounds. She didn’t really eat much for breakfast today, normally she eats anything and everything that is put in front of her. Overall I think she is adjusting well still but I think some of the happiness we saw all the time when we first got her was a protective mechanism. It is still wonderful to see what she has underneath, it is still a happy baby but one with some “spice” 
We also received a bunch of official paperwork today such as her Chinese birth certificate, adoption paperwork, abandonment paperwork. Also a very unexpected report from Half The Sky that is in Chinese and we will have to have it translated, but when we opened it on the first page is a 4×6 color photograph of her when she was brought to the orphanage, still in her finding clothes. It was so very surprising and Starla and I almost both started crying in the room with everyone else. What an amazing gift.

You guys are doing such a wonderful job. Mikayla is one cute kid and you seem to understand her on all levels. I love the McDonalds picture. Its funny how those little meals bring happiness to every child!! What a treasure to get the finding clothing. You might want to carry those in your carry on. It would be tragic to lose them. I have Claire’s stored in in a bank safe along with the gotcha day outfit. It is very special now to receive those things because many areas require that they be destroyed to prevent spread of disease. You have many things that she will treasure in the future. Enjoy your last day in her Province. We will pray for her to have safe and happy travel!

Mikayla just gets more beautiful with each post. We are so glad that she is adjusting to you guys and that she like McDonalds.
Enjoy your travel to Guangzhou….it will be a new experience again.

Congratulations to your family!! Miss Mikayla looks like a bundle of joy! She is a beautiful little girl and looks like she is fitting right in! Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Hope by now you are safely in Guangzhou. I think you will love it in GZ. For some reason it seemed cozy (if there is such a feeling in China:)
I agree with Bonnie about the treasure you have in getting those clothes. The happy meal toy also sounds like a keeper!
We have enjoyed following you guys so very much! I know Mikayla will love reading all about her early days with Mom and Dad someday in the future. Elizabeth can’t stop looking at all our China pictures these days and do wish we had taken many more. I think when you are so occupied with new responsibilities suddenly the photo’s get a back seat. We now regret that we didn’t force ourselves to take more.
You are on the home stretch now! Enjoy every second of your last days in China!!!

I will be praying for you and your new precious addition as you travel back home. I know the prayers will be needed. If she stays as happy as your posts have been, you will be just fine on your 12321342352352463567245 hour journey! =) She truly is a beautiful little girl, and i’m sure that the pictures do not even do her justice. Cant wait to have you guys all home and safe…and again, I’ll be praying for you every step of the way!
